Stay away from thicker extensions:
This may seem counterproductive to why you’re getting extensions in the first place, but there’s a reason for this advice: Thicker lash extensions are heavier and therefore more likely to fall out. Lighter individual lashes may not have such a dramatic effect on your eyes, but they will last longer than thicker lashes, providing more benefits.
Lashes coating, when applied every morning, can help extend the life of your lashes. Look for sealers with acrylic and hyaluronic acid serums, as this will both help your extensions adhere better and condition your natural lashes.
Do not take your face off the pillow at night:
It’s not hard to see why sleeping with your face on a pillow pulls out your lashes — especially when you’re moving your face while you sleep. Instead, try to sleep on your back (put a pillow under your knees for extra comfort) so you don’t touch your lashes all night long.
Matches your natural lash shape:
It also seems counterintuitive, especially if your own lashes are super straight, you might want curly lashes, but matching your lash extensions to the shape of your natural lashes can help ensure they last longer . You can always use a heated eyelash curler to liven up the straight extensions, but that way they don’t fall out prematurely.
Do not use waterproof mascara:
While one of the main purposes of eyelash extensions is to eliminate the need for mascara, there are rare cases where just a little mascara is needed. Waterproof mascaras are made to be somewhat indestructible, which can make them difficult to remove. You spend a lot of effort trying to clean waterproof mascara from your mascara, which will likely pull them off immediately, or at least weaken them considerably.
Be gentle with your lash extensions.:
Obviously, the more you avoid touching and rubbing your lashes, the longer they last. Remove eye makeup with a mild, low-alkaline soap, and use an oil-free makeup remover. When brushing lashes, brush down with very light pressure.
Just like your natural lashes, grafted lashes are fragile, but with proper care, they can last longer and provide you with many of the beauty benefits you really crave.
